Desert Springs Golf Club

Cuevas de Almanzora, Almeria, Spain

Desert Springs Indiana Course

The Indiana course is the first desert course in Europe and has been built to full USGA specifications and quality standards of the now famous desert courses of Arizona and California. It presents unforgettable views, and golf of such a dramatic nature that it can be said to have taken not only desert golf but also golf in general in this part of Spain, to a new level of excellence. “We have created a course which really can be enjoyed by players of all different standards,” said course designer Peter McEvoy. “We have kept the fairways generous and ensured that the less expert player can enjoy and improve his game whilst absorbing the awesome landscape and views that encompass The Indiana”. Every hole has features which can be brought into play: the springs, watercourses, dry river beds, rock and cactus areas and bunkers are strategically located to test the skills of golf’s leading players when playing off the championship tees.

Cortijo Grande Golf Club    near Turre, Almeria, Spain

This 9-hole (18 tee) par 69 course, opened in 1976. It is situated about 8 kilometres from the sea and west of the road between the N340 and Mojacar near Turre. This course is unique and is strongly recommended to those who enjoy a round of golf in nature and can do without all the luxury of todays new golf projects. The course is set in the valley at the foot of the Sierra Cabrera and is laid out across lemon, orange and olive tree plantation right next to the little local town. There is no real club house but we can certainly recommend the relaxed restaurant right next to the course.

Valle del Este Golf Resort     Vera, Almeria, Spain

The Valle del Este golf course opened in 2002 and was designed by José Canales, who integrated the course into the surrounding landscape by making use of indigenous vegetation. There is a good combination of very challenging holes, with other less strenuous holes. The course design and setting make it quite spectacular. The tees are particularly noteworthy, positioned on small raised platforms surrounded by volcanic rock. The, fairways are wide and there are a lot of large sand bunkers on the course as well as 3 lakes and several waterfalls. All in all, a real challenge for players of all levels. Located 40 km north of Almeria airport, 10 minutes from the beaches of Vera, Mojacar and Garrucha and an hour from the cities of Almeria and Murcia.
